Mangrove snapper, mango, grovers, or grey snapper’s color is typically greyish red, but can change color from bright red to copper red. It has a dark stripe running across its eye if observed  from the top when it is under water. Mangrove snapper can reach a length of 35 in, though most are less than 16 in. 44 lbs is the record weight for this species. Juveniles inshore are commonly
less than 3 pounds; offshore fish are normally 3 to 15 pounds.
